Footprints in the Sand

This is a poem that I will read to Ellie. May she find her peace.

Missing you,
Cheng Hwa
=================================================

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?”

The Lord replied,
“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you.”

The Garden of Love

The night before Ellie passed away, I wrote a poem and read for her to reflect our love for each other. Her love shall live in my heart.

The Garden of Love
==============

Yesterday,
We sow our seed of love in the morning.

Witty smiles, hearty laughters and happy Tears
  fertile the green of friendship

Noon
  the stem of trust sprouted

Evening
  the leaves of emotions appeared

Night
  the flowers of romance flourished

Dawn
  the dew of passion condensed

Morning
so many sweet fruits of devotion bore today.

Tomorrow
the garden of love are blossoming in our hearts.

I live my life for you!

For those friends whom she added to her MSN,  you may be puzzled why it's Dr N Ellie?

N is short for Ng. She had wished so much to be Mrs Ng. It was her motivation to go through all the painful treatment of chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant.

To my dearest Ellie, I live my life for you too!

Love always.

In Memorial of Eleanor Chen

Ellie passed away peacefully in her sleep on 14 Aug 2007 in New Jersey, United State. (15 Aug 2007 morning, Singapore)

Ellie was a strong girl. She was having leukemia since April 2006, and had bone marrow transplant twice. She was on the road to recovery, and looked forward to her wedding on 10 Aug 2007. However, she developed medication complication, and diagnoised to have severe rheumatoid arthritis. She lost iron and calcium rapidly, and her bones began to deform. This medical condition is irrevisible, and has no cure as of today.

Ellie discharged from hospital on 8 Aug 2007 to watch the National Day Parade from her relative's house. She's proud of being a Singapore Girl. She received no medical treatment since then except morphine injection to relieve her pain.

Ellie was a very kind-hearted person. All her work was about humanitarian effort to improve the less fortunate people in other places of the world. Before she passed away, she donated anonymously to assist the family of a patient next door.

Ellie was a prodigy. She had perfect scores for her academic achievement, and had not obtained any results less than A for her entire life. Ellie studied in CHIJ and Catholic Junior College. She had double first class degree in both Fianace and Law from NUS. She completed her double Masters in Finance and Law in nine months as a part-time student. With scholarship, she went to Princeton University to complete her PhD in Finance in 2.5 years.

While not recovered completely, she was handpicked to do a course for professorship in Harvard University. She completed the course in 4 months despite of her medication condition. Her transcript was not just As, but stated as Perfect Score. This is an achievement that no other students have achieved in the history of the Harvard University. She was conferred the Professor of Economics in April 2007.

Though Ellie may be appear to be nerdy, she is in fact a very pretty Strait-born chinese. She was 174 cm tall, calling herself long-legged babe. She loved to drive fast car as well. Ellie is a born athletic - she could run 10km easily when she was well, and out run most guys. Ellie also can cook well as well as play good piano.

Not many people know Ellie well as she was a very private person. Those who dont may think she was arrogant or even lying. Sometimes, speaking the truth is simply unacceptable to some.
Ellie has high morale value and integrity.

Ellie passed away peacefully in 14 Aug 2007. She was cremated in States, and her ashes were strewn into the sea. She requested no obituaries no funeral wake. She believed she will continue to live in our memories.

May Ellie rest in peace. It has been a month since you left. I missed you.
